Info

A virtual reality experience that transforms static family photographs into navigable spatial memories. Using AI-driven photogrammetry, the project reconstructs archival images as three-dimensional point cloud environments narrated by the people pictured within them. Research explored how emerging technologies such as Gaussian splatting and AI video generation could extend photography's emotional capacity beyond the two-dimensional frame. Archival photos are converted to brief 3D films, then processed into volumetric point clouds that users navigate in VR. Each scene features first-person narration from the original subjects. One scene features my Father recounting a trip to Uzbekistan in 1985. The experience questions traditional methods of memory preservation. Can computational reconstruction create more intimate encounters with the past than static images? Migot was built in Unreal Engine 5 for Meta Quest. The work positions design not as aesthetic craft but as temporal archaeology, using technology to recover emotional texture from fragmentary visual records.
